The Sámi people are the indigenous people of Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Russia.
As someone who identifies as Sámi, I would love to share my culture and knowledge of my people with my Slowly friends!
The Sámi, like many indigenous groups, have been oppressed for a long time. They had fewer rights, were forced to speak another language, and were made to feel ashamed of who they were.
I feel it's time to be proud to be Sámi and showcase the beauty of an old culture.
Some stamp ideas could be the traditional 'gákti' (traditional clothing), 'risku' (brooches used with the gákti), reindeer herding, lavvu under northern lights, 'duodji' (Sámi craft), and the Sámi flag.
