卑南族猴祭(Mangamangayau)
Mangamangayau carrying the meaning of "practice, practice." In other words, the Mangamangayau Festival serves as a formative training ground for Puyuma youth before they enter adulthood, and it is a crucial mechanism for socialization into young adulthood for Puyuma men. The primary purpose is to cultivate the courage and heroic spirit of young people through the act of spearing monkeys and the accompanying rituals, while also instilling virtues of unity and cooperation. Traditionally, real monkeys were used as targets for the youth's spearing practice, but modern iterations have replaced them with straw monkeys, allowing contemporary youth to connect with the brave aspects of their tribal history.
