[Russia] Russian Fairy Tales
Nonethewiser
Russian folklore and fairy tales feature a number of characters known by every kid, so I thought it might be an interesting idea to have a set dedicated to them. These characters are also known in other Eastern European countries, although names and spelling may vary.
I suggest a set of 6 stamps:
Баба Яга (Baba Yaga)
The main female antagonist. She flies around in a mortar, wields a pestle, and dwells deep in the forest in a hut usually described as standing on chicken legs.
Иван-царевич (Ivan Tsarevich)
Sort of "Prince Charming", saves damsels in distress and defeats evil.
Кощей (Koschei)
The main male antagonist. An evil sorcerer, who is kept immortal or deathless by a spell.
Змей Горыныч (Zmei Gorynich)
Three-headed dragon with a thing for kidnapping women.
Василиса Прекрасная (Vasilisa the Beautiful)
Not exactly a stock character, but probably the best-know female protagonist.
Жар-птица (Firebird)
Pretty much a phoenix, whose feathers posses magical qualities.

Shiro from Slowly but this is absolutely not what we all expected!
I feel cheated.

Shiro from Slowly «Timeless Tales», huh? 1 stamp from this post, still marked complete? Absurd.
upd: thank you for reopening! Hope to see this set as a whole in the future :)

Fairy tales its 100% about Russians. No nation has invented so many lies and false propaganda as the Russians. Don't forget to add stamps with "Donbas bombed for 8 years" and "the little boy in underwear who was crucified"

We really want to introduce this series, but there are some issues to deal with, such as:
1/ Ever since SWIFT was banned, we’ve been hearing from Russian users who are having trouble making payments. So, launching Premium stamps exclusive to Russia might not be the best idea because local people may not be able to buy them. But we don’t know how long this problem will last.
2/ There’s a debate internally about whether this series should only be for Russians. It would be very helpful if users could share their thoughts and join the discussion.

Shiro from Slowly:
Hi. I voted for this proposal, I like it very much. Thanks for considering it. My opinion:
1) Russians can click 100 times to view an advertisment? or they can wait until they are re-connected, the stamps can be ready
2) I said, as a Slovak, that I know these fairytales too. but after some thinking, I know like 2-3 of them, e.g. Baba Yaga from a very popular Russian children movie. so, it is a part of our culture but we do not think it is ours. Firebird and the dragon sound like the brother Grimm material. so, overall, I wouldn't say these belong to Slovakia too. Same for Czechia. Let's wait for a user from Poland, Belarus, Hungary or a post-USSR country if they feel like they own it too.

Shiro from Slowly: Hello Shiro, I'm not Russian but I love Russian fairytales.
So I'd like to buy this set.
Thanks for your work.

Shiro from Slowly:
- I believe that the inability to pay for stamps will serve as an incentive to watch more advertising. I can easily accumulate 100 coins in a couple of months. There are also users who change their location to be able to buy stamps from another country - this will bring profit for Slowly.
- I was born in Ukraine, lived in Belarus as a child and lived in Russia until recently, so I am sure that this set can well be attributed to these three countries. Belarusian and Ukrainian fairy tales differ from Russian, but these characters are known in all three countries.

Shiro from Slowly: Hey Shiro, a suggestion could be to change a little the scope of this request, indeed 3 of the 6 suggestions are already part of the Slavic Folklore, it could be interesting to make it accessible for a wider audience
FlyingPierogi
Lilluzza: Same. Russian folklore and fairytales are amazing.

Shiro from Slowly: Hello. In fact, these tales are not Russians and not even the fairy tales of the USSR, they were known in the days of the Russian Empire. My great -grandmother who was born in 1890 heard them from her grandmother. You could rename them into Slavic fairy tales and make them available in the countries of the former Russian Empire, how do you like this option?
Err.ant
заяцкаштак: The Russian Empire has nothing to do with it. These are fairy tales of Russians who live, including in neighboring countries. Finland, Poland and the countries of Central Asia were part of the Russian Empire, but these characters are known precisely as Russians. As a child, I had the opportunity to read Russian, Belarusian and Ukrainian fairy tales and I want to say that in Belarusian and Ukrainian fairy tales, slightly different types and characters are more common, although the ones listed in this topic will definitely be familiar. I understand perfectly well that Russia is not very popular in many countries now, but personally I would make this set of stamps only for Russia.

Shiro from Slowly it shouldn't be only for Russians as everyone else round the world read and enjoy the fairytales.

Bajaja As a Pole I can share my opinion. We know some of this things in Poland, but some no. However we know, that they come from Russia and we don't recognise them as ours. I'm so disappointed that this stamp set isn't actually for Russians as it should be. There's only one stamp being connected to Russia in any way - The Phoenix stamp. But phoenix is known also in other Slavic countries and in whole Europe. Why do Ukraine and Poland can have their own stamp set with their own fairytales, but Russia can't? They have great fairytales, which aren't know in any other place in the world or are, but they are their, their own...
And I don't give a damn Russia isn't a 'popular country now' quoting someone in this comments section. There're a lot of people living there, who'd like to see some piece of theirs culture on stamps. And there're a lot of people living outside Russia, who aren't Russian at all, who would like too and who've supported this idea.
This guy did all the work for you, all you had to do was design the stamps.
The same thing was with Celtic symbols for Ireland. You've made some Irish instrument which name Idr and you've marked this idea as completed. Seriously? I think Irish people are glad (the irony, if someone doesn't get it). It could be nice stamp set...

Love the concept! 💡🌟Just a small note – some elements aren't exclusive to Russia, but actually span across various Slavic countries. Remember, it's Slavic folklore, not just Russian. Let's embrace all Slavic cultures.
Madmax
Anchi97: Agree! Renaming the idea to Slavic folklore will be more appropriate?
Anchi97
Madmax: Yes, that sounds good! Or "Slavic Fairy Tales".

it's a great idea! I also would love to see stamp with Cat Bajun (Кот Баюн). With his wonderful fairy tales, he talks and puts to sleep the travelers. Those who can not resist his charms, this cat deprives life.
