The Algerian War (also known as the Algerian Revolution or the Algerian War of Independence) was a major armed conflict between France and the Algerian National Liberation Front (French: Front de Libération Nationale – FLN) from 1954 to 1962
The night of November 1, 1954 was a turning point in the history of the Algerians' confrontation with the French occupation. In it, the first bullets were fired and a fierce war began that lasted nearly seven years. Great epics were made, despite the lack of equipment, numbers and weakness of armament which led to the independence of Algeria after 132 years of inhuman and brutal French colonial yoke.
The celebration is held in the form of gatherings, meetings, parades, rallies and speeches during which a vibrant homage will be paid to the glorious martyrs and war veterans of the war for independence.
As a result of this lofty national liberation war, Algeria finally achieved freedom, sovereignty and independence from French colonial rule on July 5th, 1962 after untold human sacrifices.
