European Castles ( Stamp Series )
complete
zanam
There are many stamp requests about European castles already, but I think it would be nice to make a set with some of the oldest or most famous and beautiful castles of Europe. It could include for example the Romanian Bran castle, the Czech Karlštejn castle, the Buda castle of Hungary, the Neuschwanstein castle from Germany, a French castle from the famous Loire region, and there are also requests for castles from Belarus.
Any other recommendations would be welcome, as I am not familiar with some of the countries' castles.

Thank you all for your support.
The final four stamps of this series have been released: Kastleholm Castle (AX), Elizabeth Castle (JE), Peel Castle (IM), and Castle Cornet (GG). At least one stamp has been released for the regions we aimed to cover in the first phase, so I will mark this as "completed" for now. If there are any omissions, please make a separate request.
I hope there will be a chance to release a second or even a third series for this collection ☺️

ASRandASR mapuo I went ahead and made a new request https://feedback.slowly.app/stamp-requests/p/missing-european-castles-first-batch
I didn't add Ceuta and Melilla as I don't know their status regarding Spanish government, I suppose they might have a similar one as Corsica for France or Sardegna/Sicilia for Italy

For the yet to be suggested countries of the large European family :
Armenia : Amberd Fortress
is a 10th-century fortress located 2,300 meters above sea level, on the slopes of Mount Aragats at the confluence of the Arkashen and Amberd rivers in the province of Aragatsotn, Armenia. The name translates to "fortress in the clouds" in Armenian.Azerbaijan : Alinja Castle
is frequently referred to as the "Machu Picchu of the Caucasus" by tour guides and regionals. One can visit these beautiful breathtaking surroundings only if having good health with lung capacity and some degree of fitness. The Peruvian site is vast and green, whereas Alinja is arid, rocky, and smaller in scale.Kazahkstan : Turkestan City Fortress
, Turkestan was founded in the year 490 by nomadic settlers. The cultures on the Eurasian Steppe would transform Turkestan, allowing it to prosper into the modern age. From a time when city walls and fortifications protected a powerful city to protecting traditions, cuisine, and spirituality. Iceland : Borgarvirki Fortress
is a volcanic plug in North Iceland that historically has been used as a fortress. It stands at 177 metres above sea-level, and 10 to 15 metres above its surroundings. Made of volcanic strata in a columnar shape, it is little wonder why early Vikings saw that it was a perfect place to utilise as a fortress. As such, Borgarvirki has not just been a natural feature for hundreds of years; it has been added to with walls, stairs and other amendments to further fortify it and make it habitable for humans. Two ruins of human habitations are on site, and there is a freshwater well within it.Monaco : Prince's Palace of Monaco
, built in 1191 as a Genoese fortress, during its long and often dramatic history it has been bombarded and besieged by many foreign powers. Since the end of the 13th century, it has been the stronghold and home of the Grimaldi family who first captured it in 1297. Russia : Novgorod Kremlin
or Detinets, as it was called in Novgorod in old times, is the most ancient out of the preserved Kremlins in Russia (it was first mentioned in the chronicle of 1044). It was founded by Prince Vladimir, the eldest son of Yaroslav the Wise.ASRandASR

Shiro from Slowly: I wrote a letter to a Slowly pen pal friend about the Castles of Iberia, she was also a fan of the subject.
I made a blog page with it, added illustrations and links, it's a nice read : https://wordsmith.social/friends-near-and-afar-letters-we-share/iberia-castles-and-peoples-letter-to-a-friend
I could suggest some of the Castles mentioned in the post :
- Castelo de São Jorge(St George's Castle) in Lisbon, PT.
- Castelo de Marvão, in the border region with Spain, Alto Alentejo, PT.
- Castelo de Bragança, in the North region, also a border defense against the Spanish neighbours.
All of those are real defensive positions, fortresses in their own right, and not pretentious Noble class residences as we see in some other places.
Thank you!
Bonus :
A nice photo of the beautiful Castelo dos Mouros, which Slowly has already issued as part of the series.

Yann2: We will definitely consider creating another batch of the set. I agree that there are still many castles left to be covered!

[Romania] Transylvania
amfitrite
Transylvania (German: Siebenbürgen, Transsilvanien or Transsylvanien, Hungarian: Erdély, Romanian: Transilvania or Ardeal) is a historical region in Eastern Europe which is located in central Romania. Until December 1st, 1918, it was part of Hungary. The region of Transylvania is known for the scenery of its Carpathian landscape and its rich history.
Transylvania has played host to many myths involving folkloric monsters, specifically vampires, which the Western world commonly associates the region with because of the influence of Bram Stoker's 1897 novel Dracula and its many film and television series adaptations.

Prizren/Kosovo Prizren Fortress
Bjerksen
Prizren fortress is a hilltop fortification in Prizren in Kosovo. It overlooks the Prizren River which flows through Prizren, which developed around the fortress. The site of the fortress of Prizren has seen habitation and use since the Bronze Age (ca. 2000). In late antiquity it was part of the defensive fortification system in western Dardania and was reconstructed in the era of eastern Roman Emperor Justinian. Byzantine rule in the region ended definitively in 1219–20 as the Serbian Nemanjić dynasty controlled the fort until 1371.
Since 1371, a series of regional feudal rulers came to control Prizren and its fort: the Balšić, the Dukagjini, the Hrebeljanović and finally the Branković, often with Ottoman support. The Ottoman Empire assumed direct control after 1450 and over time turned the fort into a central stronghold in the Eyalet of Rumelia. Much of the modern fortress dates to the 18th century reconstruction phase.
The fortress is situated on a dominant hill at the eastern part of the town of Prizren, set on a strategic position, contoured with lines that follow distinguished features of the terrain's natural morphology. Archaeological excavations were carried out in 1969 and then again in 2004 and 2009–2011. They resulted in the discovery of the infrastructure, which incorporates rampart walls enforced with towers, casemates, labyrinth corridors, depots, and other accompanying inner rooms and dwellings. It was declared a Monument of Culture of Exceptional Importance in 1948.
